Federal Member fior Grey has encouraged students in Grey to apply for a
Government-funded scholarship to study a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) course.
Mr Ramsey said applications were now open for the $24 million Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships program.
“Scholarships of up to $18,000 are available to help students with the costs of studying STEM at university or a vocational education and training institution,” he said.
“One of these scholarships could help promising students from Grey realise their potential and get a STEM education that will open a world of future possibilities.
“New guidelines will also make it easier for drought-affected students to apply, including families receiving the Farm Household Allowance.
“I encourage every student in Grey who wants to study STEM to apply for the program.
“We have a huge resource of great minds in Grey, students who can, one day, contribute to science and I hope many will apply for this funding.
“More than 1,200 rural, regional and remote students will receive support through the program.”
The scholarships may also include internships to help students develop their professional experience and ensure they’re job-ready.
Applications close on Friday 14 December 2018.
