Aged care services across the Grey electorate are being encouraged to apply for $40 million made available to regional aged care providers to improve their operations, for the benefit of local seniors.
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said aged care providers could apply for one-off grants of up to $500,000 to undertake infrastructure extensions.
“Whether it’s improving accessibility, extending a kitchen or carrying out much-needed upgrades, I urge local operators to consider applying,” he said.
“The new Aged Care Regional, Rural and Remote Infrastructure Grants scheme is an important part of the Liberal Government’s commitment to providing the best quality aged care for our highly valued senior Australians.
“I have raised the extra challenges rural and regional providers face with the Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt on a number of occasions and I am particulatrly pleased he has made the extra pool of funds available.
“Funding will be provided via an open and competitive application process for which existing government-approved residential and home care providers can apply.
“Approved Commonwealth Home Support Programme providers such as Meals On Wheels may also be eligible, where there is an exceptional need.”
Mr Ramsey said applications for the grants will close at 2pm AEDT on 24 October 2018.
