The Charra Hall is set to have a face-lift following the announcement that it will be re-roofed and have minor indoor upgrades, funded under the Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects stream.
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said the project was a significant investment in assisting a local community to maintain energy and vitality by ensuring the hall remains a focal point for community engagement.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the Charra Hall and Recreation Centre and the local community, with the project receiving $30,000 towards the refurbishment and protection of the local heritage building,” Mr Ramsey said.
“Halls like Charra’s are very important community assets and having been built in 1966 it is in need of a new roof and minor upgrades to the kitchen and toilet facilities.”
Minister for Regional Development John McVeigh said under round two of the Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects stream, the Coalition Government was investing well over $200 million in 136 projects with a total leveraged project value of $459 million.
“This means, in each successful community much anticipated local projects are receiving the funds needed to take a big idea and make it a reality,” Minister McVeigh said.
The second round of the Building Better Regions Fund, which includes the Community Investments stream and the Infrastructure Projects stream, is expected to create some 10,000 jobs from over 240 projects.
