Major works will begin next Tuesday on the one of the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken in regional South Australia – the Augusta Highway Duplication Project.
The first two stages from Port Wakefield to Lochiel will in total cost $260 million, which is jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments on an 80:20 basis.
The Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said he was really excited at the prospect of seeing the commencement of works.
“I have been working on getting this project delivered for some time and it is gratifying to see it kick-off,” he said.
“It will make an enormous difference.”
The works will see the highway duplicated between just north of the new Copper Coast Overpass and Lochiel to reduce travel time, improve safety and increase freight productivity.
“I am absolutely stoked this project is going ahead,” Mr Ramsey said.
“This is confirmation of the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a dual lane highway to meet the ever-expanding traffic loads
“There is more than $1 billion federal funding coming into the Grey electorate in projects either completed, underway or soon commence.”
