Declaration of the Poll for Grey
The Declaration of the Poll for the seat of Grey was held on Wednesday June 14 to officially announce the outcome of the Federal Election with Rowan Ramsey being re-elected securing 60.07% of the Two Party Preferred vote. Mr Ramsey said he is honoured to be given the opportunity to continue to serve Grey for the next three years and humbled by the continuing support shown to him by electors. “I am excited about the future of the electorate and thank the people of Grey for placing trust in me as your local member,” he said. “There were nine candidates this time, I thank them for putting themselves forward. “I will continue to work hard to advocate for Grey and seek to maintain the strong investment stream we have been enjoying. “With record funding for roads and millions invested in the region under the Coalition, I am keen to work with the new Government to continue to pursue the resources we need to develop the full potential of the Grey electorate. “I was pleased during the election the Labor Party matched our commitment to increasing the numbers of rural doctors and health professional and I am looking to work with them to fund a number of tailored projects designed by locals to address this chronic issue. “The Coalition Government had provided support for a range of manufacturing projects including the Protein Hub, Green Cement and the Hydrogen Hub and I look forward to working with the new government to ensure these projects progress. “While I am disappointed to lose Government, I celebrate the fact that we live in the world’s fourth longest uninterrupted democracy where we achieve changes of government in a peaceful, organised, and civil way. We have much to be grateful for.” Mr Ramsey thanked Grey Electorate Returning Officer Jacqui Dunlop and AEC staff. “Just as elections in a seat like Grey with 118 polling stations are a huge challenge for candidates, so they are too for AEC staff,” he said. |
