Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey has welcomed extra support for aged care facilities across the regional areas including the Grey electorate as a boost for older Australians.
“There has been an extra $2.2m through the Viability Supplement injected across the electorate over and above the daily care fees to help address the regional imbalance in aged care costs,” Mr Ramsey said.
“I have been making the case for some time with Minister Ken Wyatt on behalf of our regional aged care providers and I am especially pleased he has increased the Viability Supplement by 30%,” Mr Ramsey said.
“The supplement recognises the cost of delivering aged care outside the capital cities is higher and forty two facilities across the electorate will benefit from this announcement.”
Mr Ramsey said not only are the privately owned not-for-profit sector receiving the boost, so too are the State Government owned units attached to our local hospitals.
“Our aged care providers in our local towns are extremely important and making sure they have an environment in which they can survive, prosper and reinvest in their facilities is vitally important,” he said.
The Government’s increase to the Viability Supplement comes at a national cost of $101.9m.
