Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey has commended the District Council of Mount Remarkable on receiving Federal Government funding for their commitment to commemorating Australia’s wartime history and recognising our local service men and women.
“The District Council of Mount Remarkable will receive funding of $2727 under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service commemorations program to publish a book about the men and women from Willowie Township and district who listed for service in both World Wars,” Mr Ramsey said.
“Publishing a book will provide a permanent tribute to those local community members who have served and continue to serve our country.”
District Council of Mount Remarkable will received one of 84 Saluting Their Service grants recently announced by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Darren Chester with two other successful applicants in Grey- Burra RSL Sub Branch and Beltana Progress Association.
“This latest round of ongoing Community Commemorative Grants will ensure the delivery of meaningful projects to local communities like ours to commemorate Australia’s role in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and reflect our gratitude to service men and women,” Mr Ramsey said.
“The commitment of organisations such as these ensures communities like ours can preserve our local history for future generations.”
The Community Commemorative Grants category of the Saluting Their Service program provides up to $4,000 for each project and applications can now be made through the Community Grants Hub.
