The Wilmington Oval Management Committee will be able to erect a verandah and replace worn and damaged carpet with funding of $9,600 through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program (SCP).
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said he is very pleased the committee has received funding to improve facilities at the oval.
“This facility is pivotal to the area and is used for recreation, private functions and events and celebrations, ” Mr Ramsey said.
“The facility is extensively used but requires revitalisation to ensure its future sustainability.
“The old damaged carpet needs replacing while verandas will give shelter for outdoor events.
“A barbeque area will be included to make best use of the facilities.
“I am very pleased we have made these Federal Government funds available through the Stronger Communities Program to help small community groups.”
The Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme offers grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for small capital projects.
