The refurbished Smoky Bay playground has proven a great hit with families with the new equipment providing kids with plenty of fun.
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey was pleased to drop in on the weekend to see locals enjoying the refurbished playground.
He said a lot of hard work that has gone into the project and he was able view the new safety fence erected with the assistance of a $9,000 grant from the Federal Government Building Better Regions program.
Playground committee coordinator Colleen Holmes and Progress Association President Desrae Beattie are thrilled with the results and the number of people using the facility.
“The committee took the opportunity offered by the grant to engage with the community and do much more at the playground including extending the soft fill and installing a low retainer made from treated sleepers,” Mr Ramsey said.
“They also installed some new equipment, which has been a real hit with playground users.”
“I was particularly taken with the parent/infant swing which was being used with great enthusiasm when I visited.
“Overall, Smoky Bay is as neat as a pin and it is a great credit to the Progress Association and the residents.”
