Good reliable communications will ensure opportunities presented by digital innovation to the farming community and rural Australians will see our regions grow and prosper.
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey is encouraging people in Grey to have their say and participate in an ACCC survey to better prepare Government for regional communication needs through the Regional Mobile Infrastructure Inquiry.
The ACCC is seeking public contributions to the Regional Mobile Infrastructure Inquiry. The purpose of the Inquiry is to:
- inform future Government policy decisions on the provision of regional, rural, remote and peri-urban mobile telecommunications services
- investigate the feasibility of providing temporary mobile roaming during natural disasters or other emergencies.
Mr Ramsey said it is important the voices of people living in regional and remote areas are heard.
“People in regional Australia have voiced their concerns to me around the lack of equitable access to reliable and quality telecommunications services in regional, rural and remote Australia,” he said.
“It is imperative people in the country can ensure its future economic growth and prosperity through better digital capacity which in turn will lead to better outcomes for all Australians.”
The former Coalition Government directed the ACCC inquiry to focus on the costs and access to telecommunications towers and facilities.
Mr Ramsey encouraged those living in rural and remote locations to complete the online survey:

“I urge regional communities to provide input into the consultation process, open until February and prior to the publication of the Regional Mobile Infrastructure Inquiry draft report in April, 2023,” he said.
“The link to participate in the survey can be found on my website https://www.rowanramsey.com.au/ or on my Facebook page.”
