The Port Neill Progress Association will be able to continue to develop the Port Neill Men’s Shed with funding of $5000 through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program (SCP).
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said he is very pleased the Green Shed in Port Neill is being restored and a section of the shed converted into a Men’s Shed.
He was very impressed with the quality of the workmanship of the new seats and tables when he visited the shed recently.
“The Green Shed is a land mark in Port Neill where the town gathers for community events and has been in need of restoration work which has included installing new doors, barbecues, benches and tables,” Mr Ramsey said.
“It has been my experience Men’s Sheds provide support and friendship not only to their members, but to any community organisations who need their help.
“I am very pleased we have made these Federal Government funds available through the Stronger Communities Program to help small community groups.”
The Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme offers grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for small capital projects.
