A project in Laura has been successful in receiving funding of $10,000 under the Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.
The program is an Australian Government initiative which honours the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service men and women in wars, conflicts and peace operations
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said the Laura Community Development and Tourism Association will use the funding to construct six metal artworks to commemorate local service personnel for installation at the Laura Community War Memorial.
“The Laura community will join communities across Australia in benefiting from a funding boost to help commemorate the role that Australian service men and women have played in shaping the nation,” he said.
“These projects will ensure that the service history is captured and preserved in our local community.
“I thank all community organisations who work tirelessly to ensure that our service personnel get the recognition they deserve and thank you to all Australian service personnel for your service and sacrifice.”
