Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said Federal Government Health and Hospital funding of more than $600,000 has contributed to the building of expanded facilities at Tumby Bay which will improve the range of health services available to local residents.
“I was very pleased to attend and share the honour of opening the second stage of the redevelopment of the Tumby Bay Health Services and know that Federal Government funding has been a major contributor to the success of this project,” he said.
“The redevelopment is situated within the town’s hospital campus, which has seen the expansion of the community health building and upgrades to staff accommodation.
“This redevelopment is testament to the hard work of the Lower Eyre Health Advisory Council particularly chair Liz Mickan with great assistance from the indefatigable Anne Hall with incredible support from the District Council of Tumby Bay.
“It was great to have Opposition Health Minister Stephen Wade and State Member for Flinders attend this important occasion.”
Stage Two of the project has delivered three consultation rooms and a training/therapy room, for use by visiting specialists and allied health professionals. Staff accommodation has also been improved with three offices, a Matron’s flat/nurses’ home and a new car park.
The Australian Government has invested a total of $1.1 million to improve these community health facilities, including more than $600,000 in this final stage of the development.
The work undertaken also complements Stage One of this project, which involved the construction of a new community health building. This was possible through $500,000 in Australian Government funding, together with a $777,000 contribution from the District Council of Tumby Bay.
This entire redevelopment project – a partnership between the Australian Government and the Tumby Bay Council – has delivered modern community health care facilities that will benefit the community and the health staff who work there.
