Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey has commended the Burra RSL Sub Branch on receiving Federal Government funding for their commitment to commemorating Australia’s wartime history and recognising our local service men and women.
“The Burra RSL Sub Branch will receive funding of $3000 under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service commemorations program to support the restoration project of a German Krupp Cannon which will be displayed at the Burra War Memorial,” Mr Ramsey said.
“This project will be another permanent tribute to local community members who have served and continue to serve our country.”
Burra RSL will received one of 84 Saluting Their Service grants recently announced by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Darren Chester with two other successful applicants in Grey- Beltana Progress Association and District Council of Mount Remarkable.
“This latest round of ongoing Community Commemorative Grants will ensure the delivery of meaningful projects to local communities like ours to commemorate Australia’s role in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and reflect our gratitude to service men and women,” Mr Ramsey said.
“The commitment of organisations such as these ensures communities like ours can preserve our local history for future generations.”
The Community Commemorative Grants category of the Saluting Their Service program provides up to $4,000 for each project and applications can now be made through the Community Grants Hub.
Applicants requiring support in submitting their application are encouraged to phone 1800 020 283 or email support@communitygrants.gov.au
